Dove Artist: Kim Simons
Kim Simons, the talented local artist behind the newest dove at Butternut Grove Campsite, is a prolific contributor to the Dove Trail, having created over 10 doves, including those in the Village of Liberty, the Village of Wurtsboro, and White Lake Homes. Simons’ work at Butternut Grove is a stunning homage to the Woodstock era, drawing inspiration from the bold, psychedelic art of Peter Max and using a 1969 color palette. Her latest creation captures the vibrant energy of the Woodstock era, with the front side of the dove depicting the sun rising above Beaverkill Lake and an angler fishing for trout, while the backside showcases the calm night atmosphere of the campsite, complete with groovy chairs by the campfire. Simons’ artistry not only celebrates the past but also adds a vibrant new chapter to the legacy of the Sullivan Catskills.
