Dove Artists: Kim Simons, Jennifer Bull

Kim Simons is an artist, a multi-award winning, master level, cake and food artist. Kim has recently been featured on the Food Network’s, “Cake Wars: Christmas”, “Cake Wars”, “Duff Till Dawn”, “Outrageous Wedding Cakes” and “Sugar Dome”. Kim also has appeared on Telemundo’s, “Buenos Dias Nueva York”, where she presented one of her fabulous cakes to a live television audience to celebrate their first show, also performing and demoing live, creating huge food art pieces in Busch Gardens VA, Seaworld TX, Ohio, Tennessee and NY City. Kim, has been recognized in “Dessert Professional” magazine as one of the Top Ten Cake Artists in North America for 2013. Her cakes have also been featured in the “ICES” magazine, “Cake Masters” magazine, the “American Cake Decorating” magazine, “Today’s Woman” magazine, and “Cake Design France” magazine. Kim is not a traditional cake artist. She enjoys creating sculpturally unique and beautiful cakes, mastery of painting with edible colors, and the ability to sculpt incredibly realistic nature scenes. Kim has a reputation for creating amazingly realistic looking animals out of sugar and has earned the respect of her peers. In addition to her work in cakes and food, Kim has an extensive following in the painting and sculpturing worlds. She has commissioned works for the private, public and government sectors over the years. The public can also see her work in the War Memorial located in Monticello, NY and her Centennial Monument created exclusively for the town of Liberty, NY. Jennifer Bull has lived in Sullivan County her entire life. She is a mom of two beautiful girls Brooke (10) and Samantha (7) and has been married to her husband Timothy Bull for 12 years. They currently live in Roscoe, NY but have strong ties to many of the towns in Sullivan County. Jennifer is a graduate of Livingston Manor Central School (1999) and attended The College of Saint Rose of Albany with her twin sister Jessica Mall, where they both acquired a BS in Art Education and a minor in Photography (2003), and attended N.Y.I.T (New York Institute of Technology) for a Masters in Instructional Technology. After College she moved back to Livingston Manor to be with her family and help her mom take care of her father who was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1997. As luck would have it, a part-time art teaching position opened up at Liberty High School; she applied and got the job. Jennifer has worked at Liberty High School ever since, teaching art for 15 years. She presently teaches Studio Art, Advanced Studio Art, Drawing and Painting, Sculpture, Ceramics and has also taught Photography.

DOVE INSPIRATION: Jennifer wanted to put a design in for the Dove Trail because of its historical connection to the 50th Anniversary of Woodstock and to be part of such a wonderful Community project. To her the dove represents peace, love, and grace, three things that everyone needs in their life to find happiness. Jennifer commented, “It’s such an uplifting shape, and being able to paint it in a Peter Max theme made it all the more interesting to me.”
